Belize, USVI among day 1 winners at Girls’ U15 Championship

The 2022 CONCACAF Girls’ Under-15 Championship kicked off this Sunday at the Hillsborough County Tournament Sportsplex in Tampa, Fl., with Belize and US Virgin Islands among the winners on the day in League B, CONCACAF said.

On the strength of an Asia Flores brace, CONCACAF said Belize picked up their first three points in Group C with a 3-1 victory over Anguilla, while Martinique edged Bermuda 1-0 in a very tight affair on an Eden Dincuff score in Group C as well.

CONCACAF said The USVI were “big winners” in a 7-1 final versus Bahamas to open Group D, “courtesy of a five-goal performance from Gabriella Quezada, while a strong defensive performance and a Bindiya Wadhwani goal enabled Aruba to pocket a 1-0 victory against Honduras in Group D.”

The lone draw of the day came in Group E in which Guyana and Turks and Caicos Islands played to an exciting 2-2 draw, CONCACAF said.

It said Jayda Schoburgh supplied both goals for Guyana and was matched by Rosaria Talbot, who scored both Turks and Caicos Islands goals.

CONCACAF said Group E also saw Nicaragua rise to the stop of the table “thanks to a 5-0 win over Cayman Islands, with Aneth Lopez leading the way with two goals.”
