WIPA congratulates Sir Richie Richardson on his deserved doctorate

The West Indies Players’ Association (WIPA) has congratulated West Indies cricket legend, Sir Richie Richardson on his honorary decorate.  It is a “deserving recognition” the former West Indies captain received the honorary doctors of law (LLB) for his contribution to sport during the University of the West Indies (UWI) Five Islands Campus graduation ceremony recently, it said.
“The WIPA team congratulates Sir Richardson and his deserving recognition,” the WIPA and the CEO Wavell Hinds said in a statement.
“Sir Richie’s to the sport is a notewordy and commendable one and will in heart and minds of the people of the West Indies for years to come. We wish all the best in his future endeavors to endeavors.”
The 60-year-old Antiguan who was knighted in 2014 amassed 5,9049 Test runs  at an average of 44.39 and 6,248 ODI runs at an average of 33.41.
Following his last international in1996, he went on to become the team manager and refree the former right handed batsman as appointed to the elite panel of match referees by the International Cricket Council (ICC) in 2015.
