WI suffers whitewash against India in ODI series

The West Indies team suffered its first-ever series whitewash to India on the sub-continent to a 96-run defeat in the third One-Day International (ODI) in Ahmedabad, India, last Friday.
Asked to chase 266 at the Narendra Modi Stadium, West Indies were dismissed for 169 in the 38th over, failing to pass 200 yet again for the series following totals of 176 in the opener and 193 in the second game a few days later.
Number nine Odean Smith top-scored with a dashing 18-ball 36, while captain Nicholas Pooran got 34 and number eight Alzarri Joseph made 29, but no other batsman passed 20 as the Caribbean side struggled from the outset and  never really recovered after slumping to 82 for seven in the 19th over.
West Indies Captain, Kieron Pollard missed the last two matches because of a knee injury. Nicholas Pooran captained the last two matches.
India made a poor start by losing new captain Rohit Sharma (13) and Virat Kholi (0) in the fourth over. Kholi poor form continued with scores of eight, 18 and duck in the three innings in this series.
But Shreyas Iyer (80) and Rishab Pant (56) came together for the fourth wicket adding 110 runs.
Man-of-the-Series Prasidh Krishna once again spearheaded the attack with three for 27 while fellow fast bowler Mohammed Siraj claimed three for 29.
