Wally Stewart offers scholarships to Jamaican high school kids

New York-based, Jamaican-born entrepreneur Walford “Wally” Stewart, who migrated to the US in late 2000, has a great love for his country that drives his philanthropic desires.

Stewart has dedicated his life to transforming the lives of the less fortunate kids of Jamaica.

For the past decade his GOF-AAH organization has been offering scholarships to kids at his alma mater, St. Elizabeth Technical High School (STETHS), and touching the lives of students there.

“I help kids not to miss out on their dreams like I did,” Stewart told Caribbean Life.

The former collegiate soccer player, through GOF-AAH, is planning a massive “Bottle Drive Dinner Gala” at the Grand Roosevelt Ballroom on Saturday, May 21, in Yonkers, New York, with proceeds earmarked to fund scholarships for students at STETHS.

“I go into the schools in Jamaica when I visit and ask them for a list of their struggling students. From that, I help some of them by paying their tuition,” Stewart said. “This is funded by our upscale bottle support Gala, which is a red carpet, all-inclusive event.

“There will be good food, good music, and the opportunity to rekindle past experiences with friends and family,” he added.

Stewart said patrons will be entertained by a live band playing R&B and reggae, and a fashion show that will feature African attires and models.
