THIRD WORLD HEADLINES GALA
GRAMMY-nominated reggae ambassadors Third World is slated to headline Issa Trust Foundation for The Children New York Benefit Gala this Saturday, May 11, at Cipriani 42nd Street in Manhattan.
Other performers include Messenjah Luciano, Gramps Morgan and Kumar.
Paul Issa, chairman of the Issa Trust Foundation, told Caribbean Life on Monday that Lady Allen, wife of Jamaica Governor General Sir Patrick Allen, will be among patrons.
“We are happy to welcome Lady Allen to the gala this year,” he said. “Lady Allen is a passionate advocate for children and the elderly.”
Cat Coore, founding member of Third World, said, “The Issa Trust Foundation is a wonderful organization that does great things for the kids of Jamaica.
“Funds raised will go for construction of the Mary Issa Pediatric and Adolescent Health Center in St. Ann, Jamaica and to purchase things like incubators and other kinds of medical equipment for health for the kids,” he added.
The iconic reggae band is renowned for all-time reggae classics such as “Try Jah Love,” “Now That We’ve Found Love,” “Reggae Ambassador,” “96 Degrees in the Shade,” “Sense of Purpose” and “Forbidden Love.”
Since its inception, Issa said the Issa Foundation has been instrumental in reducing child mortality rates, thanks to partnerships with organizations such as Direct Relief and the National Health Fund.
He said the Neonatal Intensive Care model in Jamaica has saved “countless lives, providing ventilators, diagnostic equipment, and crucial training for medical professionals.”
This initiative, Issa said, has been “a game-changer for newborns and neonates, ensuring they receive the specialized care they deserve.”
Additionally, he said the foundation has been instrumental in pediatric and neonatal education for doctors and nurses island-wide in Jamaica.
“We are passionately committed to providing world-class holistic services that address the physical, mental and social needs of our young people and their families, and that’s why we are hosting this unforgettable ‘For the Children Gala in New York City’ to raise funds to complete our mission,” Issa said.
