Strawberry season – It’s pickin’ time!

The arrival of summer on Long Island means an abundance of luscious fruit that’s ripe for the picking. Spend a day in the sun harvesting juicy red strawberries at these local farms. Check opening dates as they will vary depending on the weather.

Garden of Eve

This organic farm and market will be opening up its strawberry picking season during Memorial Day weekend. Garden of Eve also has fun field attractions for families, including farm animals, a hay mountain, and more! 4558 Sound Ave., Riverhead, gardenofevefarm.com 9 am – 6 pm.

Glover Farms

Take a trip to Brookhaven and take advantage of Glover Farms’ strawberry picking season; the June opening day will be posted on Facebook. 641 Victory Ave., Brookhaven, facebook.com/GloverFarmsBrookhaven 10 am – 5:30 pm.

Lewin Farms
Lewin Farms opens its strawberry fields to the public every year in late May or early June, depending on the weather. 812 Sound Ave., Calverton, lewinfarm.com 9 am – 4:30 pm.

Rottkamp’s Fox Hollow Farm

Known for its sweet corn and full-grown sunflower maze, this farm has opened its venue for customers to pick their own berries just in time for the strawberry harvest. Patty’s Berries & Bunches
Head out to Mattituck to enjoy Patty’s Berries and Bunches “U-Pick Berries” opening at the end of May, where you can pick your own strawberries, raspberries and blackberries. Wickham’s Fruit Farm

Windy Acres Farm
