Sri Lanka to tour West Indies after home series against England

Sri Lanka are set to tour the Caribbean following their home series against England in January, according to cricketaddictor.com.

The cricket news outlet said on Dec. 24 that the islanders will play two Tests, three ODIs and three T20Is against the West Indies in February-March 2021.

The Test series will be part of the ICC World Test Championship, and the series will be played for the Sobers-Tissera Trophy, the addictor said.

It said Sri Lanka are currently in South Africa for a two-match Test series, which started on Dec. 26.

It will be followed by two more Tests against England at home.

The second Test of the series is scheduled to be played from Jan. 22, the addictor said.

It said the home series against Sri Lanka will be the first international match in the Caribbean since the outbreak of COVID-19 in March.

India was the last international team to tour the Caribbean in September 2019.

Since then, the addictor said West Indies has been involved in three Test series away from home.

“We have asked Cricket West Indies to send us their health guidelines, and we are awaiting a response,” said Sri Lanka Cricket Chief Executive Officer, Ashley de Silva. “Once we receive the guidelines, we will definitely evaluate it and then take a call.

“We will have further discussions with them on the health part of it,” he added.

With regard to the situation of the COVID-19 pandemic in the Caribbean, De Silva said: “We haven’t got any feedback from them regarding the pandemic and we haven’t heard very much about it.”
