Sen. Parker distributes COVID at-home self-test kits to Central Brooklyn residents
New York State Senator Kevin Parker who is often in the vanguard of keeping constituents safe from the ongoing coronavirus, distributed more than 500 COVID at-home self-test kits, to residents at the Glenwood Houses and Flatbush Gardens, during a recent two-day outreach in Brooklyn.
The politician who ensured that residents were well protected and cared for since the pandemic started over two years ago, handing out food hampers, face masks and hand sanitizers, noted that it was a pleasure to be out during the week in his district to inspire residents to get tested, while staying safe from the omicron variant.
“While the omicron variant infection rates have slowed, it is important we continue to take steps to slow the spread so our businesses and schools can stay open and serve families,” said Sen. Parker whose diverse 21st District encompasses, Flatbush, East Flatbush, Flatlands, Midwood, Ditmas Park, Kensington, Windsor Terrace, and Park Slope.
In his ongoing schedule programs and outreach to engage the community and provide youth with the necessary tools to learn and grow, the lawmaker has unveiled an Earth Day Celebration for school children in grades K-6 from every corner of New York State.
His goal is to encourage children to develop an awareness of the environment and its resources. “Teaching children about the importance of recycling and waste reduction is critical as we face the environmental challenges of the 21st Century,” he shared.
Sen. Parker wants to emphasis the importance of recycling and waste reduction, to invigorate the exchange of ideas about recycling and waste reduction among schools, children and adults, and to stimulate creative thinking about solutions to problems concerning recycling and waste reduction.
“We are asking students to create a poster that could be used as part of this campaign.”
