Over 70 entrepreneurs across NYC rally behind Ray McGuire for mayor

Ray McGuire Campaign said on Monday that 76 New York City entrepreneurs have come together in support of him for mayor.

In an open letter, the group states the time has come for a fresh approach at City Hall, and that they support McGuire because he is “determined to retain the city’s status as a hub of innovation and to make the industry more inclusive and diverse.”

The group is chaired by Jukay Hsu, the co-founder and chief executive officer of Pursuit, which trains adults with the most need and potential to get their first tech jobs, advance in their careers and become the next generation of tech leaders.

The others are: Gayle Jennings-O’Byrne, the co-founder and general partner of WOCStar Fund, an early-stage investment fund focused on tech innovation being brought to market by inclusive teams and women of color (“WOCstars”); Jeff Lindor, the founder and chief executive officer of The Gentlemen’s Factory, a collaborative space and global platform for Black and Brown professionals and entrepreneurs who are invested in each other’s success; and Jeff Wald, the co-founder of WorkMarket, an enterprise software company purchased by ADP in 2018.

“We are proud to throw our support behind Ray McGuire, the only candidate capable of leading the city’s economy into an uncertain future, bringing safety to our streets and bridging the divides that have been present in our city for far too long,” said Hsu, Lindor and Wald in a joint statement. “Ray is the complete package and we endorse him wholeheartedly.”

“Ray understands deeply the challenges we face as entrepreneurs — and that’s true whether you’re a student with a dream and full of passion, a first-time entrepreneur taking the plunge, a founder with a successful company under your belt, looking for your next challenge, or an investor like me,” said Jennings-O’Byrne. “Ray has the character, the heart and the perspective we need to lead our city forward.”

McGuire said: “These leaders are the future. “I’m honored to have their support.

“More important, I look forward to working with them to make New York the most vibrant, inclusive city in the world,” he said. “I want them and every small business owner in every corner of the city to know that when I’m mayor, City Hall will have their backs.”
