Mumbai Indians batting coach Kieron Pollard fined for breaching IPL code of conduct

Mumbai Indians batting coach Kieron Pollard has been fined 15% of his match fee by the Board of Control for Cricket in India for breaching the Indian Premier League Code of Conduct.

The former West Indies all-rounder was found guilty of using “audible obscenity” towards match officials during Mumbai Indians’ match against Punjab Kings recently. In addition to the fine, Pollard received one demerit point on his disciplinary record for the offence.
The sanction was imposed following a review of his conduct during the IPL encounter.

The incident occurred during the 19th over of Mumbai Indians’ chase of 201 runs, when Kieron Pollard allegedly used abusive language towards the fourth umpire. The incident led to swift intervention from match officials, who took immediate action in response to the situation.

The IPL ruled Pollard’s behaviour a Level 1 offence under Article 2.3 of its Code of Conduct, which covers inappropriate or abusive language during matches.

Pollard admitted to the offence and accepted the punishment handed down by match referee Pankaj Dharmani.
Level 1 offences in the IPL are generally considered minor disciplinary breaches, but repeated violations can result in tougher and stricter sanctions, including possible suspension from matches.
