Matthews hits career-best 141 to give WI Women a 3-0 sweep vs Pakistan

West Indies Team Captain Hayley Matthews put in a magnificent all round performance to lead her team to an 88-run win against Pakistan sealing a 3-0 series sweep in the third and final One-day International (ODI) at the National Bank Stadium, Karachi.

Matthews, who scored 140 not out in the first ODI, bettered her effort in the final match as she struck a brilliant 141 off 149 balls to secure a new career-best score in the process hitting a total of 19 boundaries in her innings.

West Indies made a solid score of 278 for 6. They lost wicket-keeper/batter Rashada Williams for 9 by Sandhu in the seventh over after the Windies progressed to 37. Matthews steered the innings and she was well-supported by vice-captain Shemaine Campbelle with 38 off 58 balls and Taylor with 47 off 62 balls.

The Windies skipper put on 93 runs for the second wicket with Campbelle, before Campbelle was trapped lbw by Sana in the 25th over as the score was pushed to 130 for two.

Stafanie Taylor and Matthews partnered to produce a 111-run stand for the third wicket. Matthews got to her century off 117 balls before piercing several boundaries at the back end.

Taylor smack four boundaries and was dismissed in the 46th over by Nashra Sandhu (3 for 54) with the West Indies score on 241 for 3, Chinelle Henry quickly followed. With Matthews losing her wicket in 47th over after trying to hoist Fatima Sana (2 for 67) over the boundary rope,  Alleyne entered to hit an unbeaten 20 from 12 balls to end the innings on a high.

In reply, Pakistan struggled for long periods before being bowled out for 190 in the 48th over.

Muneeba Ali top-scored with 38 off 58 balls, while Afiya Riaz hit a swift 36 off 41 balls and struck the only six for her team.

Matthews versatile bowling attack restricted the hosts to get the comfortable win.

All-rounder Aaliyah Alleyne got the wickets of Tuba Hassan (23) and Umme Hani (six), while the Matthews took two for 26 and Taylor with two for 29. Four other Windies bowlers took a wicket apiece.

West Indies got wickets early and often as they got a comfortable 88-run win.

Matthews was awarded both the Player-of-the- Match and Player-of-the-Series scoring a staggering 325 runs in three innings in the series at an average of 162.5, while she also grabbed six wickets.
