Grammy-winner Brandy was hospitalized Oct. 11, after suffering a possible seizure, according to a report on Oct. 12. The 43-year-old songstress/actress. whose full name is Brandy Norwood, remained at a Los Angeles hospital on Oct. 12 and is expected to recover, TMZ reported, citing sources. Brandy is said to be accompanied by her parents Sonja and Willie Norwood. Law enforcement sources told TMZ that police received a call for emergency services to Brandy’s home in Los Angeles on Oct. 11 at noon. This is a developing story.

FX’s Kindred, the new drama series based on the late Octavia E. Butler’s profoundly influential novel, will premiere Tuesday, Dec. 13 exclusively on Hulu. The premiere will include all eight episodes. The announcement was made Oct. 9 at New York Comic Con during a Kindred panel presentation featuring showrunner and executive producer Brandon Jacobs-Jenkins and cast members Mallori Johnson, Micah Stock, Gayle Rankin, Austin Smith, David Alexander Kaplan, Sophina Brown and Sheira Irving. Adapted from the celebrated novel Kindred, by Black science fiction novelist Butler, the FX series centers on “Dana James” played by Mallori Johnson, a young Black woman and aspiring writer who has uprooted her life of familial obligation and relocated to Los Angeles, ready to claim a future that, for once, feels all her own.

Country singer Jimmie Allen hosted his own Jimmie Allen PBA Challenge on Oct. 4 in North Carolina, bringing together some of his talented pals to hit the lanes with professional bowlers, according to reports. Celebrities that participated included Nelly, comedian Hannibal Buress, former NFL wide receiver Terrell Owens and more. Allen loves to bowl and has aspirations of joining the PBA in 2023. The event was televised on Fox on Oct. 16. Allen concluded the event with a performance.

The 6th Edition of the Hollywood and African Prestigious Awards (HAPAwards) returns with the theme — ‘Connecting Black Excellence Globally’ on Saturday, Oct. 29, at the historical Ambassador Auditorium in Pasadena, California. The red-carpet event begins at 6:00 p.m. followed by other activities, which will be hosted by Darius McCrary and Rachel Mbuki Litvishkova, former Miss Kenya – Miss Universe. This year’s nominees include Paula Patton, KJ Smith, Lawrence Hilton Jacobs and Bianca Lawson. History will be made when mother and daughter, Marla and Angela Gibbs are nominated for the first time in the same awards show.
