GAYLE TO RETIRE

Cricket West Indies (CWI) is hoping to give Chris Gayle a proper send off at Sabina Park, Jamaica when it hosts Ireland for a white-ball series in January next year.
Following a disappointing performance at the recent ICC T20 World Cup in the United Arab Emirates, Gayle had indicated that he would play one match in West Indies colors before his home fans.
CWI CEO Johnny Grave has indicated the board was in discussion with stakeholders in Jamaica to honor the “Universe Boss” with a Twenty20 International against Ireland that would be, hopefully, if fans are allowed into Sabina Park, a good opportunity for “us to say farewell to Chris at his home ground.”
“We are still talking to the Jamaica government around the protocols and the ability to play the series and a one-off Twenty20,” said Grave.

In all formats, the legend has 7214 runs in 103 Tests and 10480 runs in 301 One-Day Internationals.
Gayle 42, is a former West Indies captain.
Ireland will play two Twenty20s and three One-Day International is in Florida between Dec. 20 and Dec. 30 before departing for the Caribbean to play three One-Day Internationals and three Twenty20s to be played in Jamaica.
