Chemist, skincare expert, Guyanese-born S. Angela Solomon is defining beauty with natural Sunshine Creations LLC

Skincare scientist S. Angela Solomon is passionate about using natural products to heal the body, inside and out, through her Sunshine Creations LLC collection, which was showcased at a Kings Plaza Mall pop-up on Saturday, July 11.
The Guyanese-born entrepreneur founded the family-owned business as a home-based beauty company to meet the growing demand for healthy, toxin-free ingredients just before the pandemic. Fortunately for the scientist, her commitment to using natural ingredients for healthier skin has paid off handsomely.
From her Brooklyn lab, Solomon produces body oils, soaps, linen sprays, shampoo, conditioner, lotions, moisturizers and other beauty products, including acne treatments.
Growing up in the rural village of Golden Grove on Guyana’s East Coast of Demerara, Solomon learned about business at an early age. Coming from a family of entrepreneurs inspired her journey, work ethic and success.
An alumna of Guyana’s prestigious President’s College, Solomon earned a degree in chemistry from the University of Guyana before migrating to the United States, where she said she has spent most of her life.
“I love to smell good. However, no one really looks for the ingredients on the product we buy from big companies,” she told Caribbean Life outside a kiosk on the first level of Kings Plaza Mall.
“The products as full of chemicals and fillers, and since our skin is the largest organ, the toxins seep into our pores. I decided that since I am a chemist, I would use my knowledge to create products that are healthy for the skin. I know what I’m doing. So basically, I truly sell non-toxic natural products,” she said.
“Consumers don’t read the labels to see what the ingredients are in the products that contains artificial, synthetic, and potentially harmful chemicals, and fillers being sold by big companies.”
“Since our skin is the body’s largest organ, chemicals entering our pores could be harmful. And since I am a chemist, I use plant-based, healthy properties to heal, not hurt the skin. I know what I’m doing,” said Solomon.
The collection was created with the entire family in mind and is suitable for all skin types. The products are hypoallergenic and feature healing properties for the body, facial cleansing, acne treatment, age spots and scarring.
Solomon, a talented and versatile chemist, has served as a senior lab technician in the chemistry department at Medgar Evers College in Brooklyn for the past 22 years. She said she was approached by a major company to create her own line and formulate fragrances for other companies.

“Taking time to read the ingredients is important, since many contain fillers, unhealthy for the skin.”
For more than 29 years, Solomon has been doing what few in the beauty industry achieve: seamlessly blending the precision of science with the purity of nature. Today, the brand is synonymous with luxurious skincare designed to restore youthful radiance.
The product line has grown to include Sunshine Glory Yoni Soap, Glow Up Face & Body Scrub, Goat Milk Soap with Jojoba Beads, Pheromone Body Oil, Room and Linen Spray, Turmeric Soap and Whipped Body Parfait, among other products.
“Many of our clients report measurable results from using our all-natural line,” she noted, adding that prices begin at an accessible $7. “Furthermore, our custom-blended fragrances are designed specifically to be gentle on super-sensitive skin.”
In addition, Sunshine Creations provides mobile spa services for birthdays, showers and other family gatherings.
Over the years, Solomon has donated thousands of gift hampers and hosted school supply giveaways in her homeland of Guyana.

“If I do get a pimple, the moment I use the soap, it goes away. It’s important to always remember where you come from. You want to keep your body healthy, not just on the inside, but also on the outside,” she said.
“These natural products are great. They are not at all expensive, compared to other products with lots of chemicals,” said the satisfied customer.
