Carter swims to 2 Gold, Silver at Copa Queretaro

T&T swimmer Dylan Carter secured two gold medals, and one silver in the first International Copa Queretaro, in Mexico, recently.

The California born Carter returned to the meet along with a few Brazilian internationals to join the 80 plus Mexican teams at the event.

In the men’s 50m butterfly, the contest was between 44-year-old Brazilian world record holder Nicholas Santos and 28-year-old Carter, but it was the former champion who took the top spot in 23.47 seconds, with the T&T swimmer settling for silver reaching the wall in 23.68 seconds.

Santos confirmed his retirement after the 2022 World Championships, where he won the 50m butterfly and became the oldest swimmer to ever win a World Championship but he has made appearances at this meet series twice since then.

Carter ended on a high when he won the 50m freestyle in 22.34 seconds and also won the 100m freestyle in 50.00 seconds flat.
