Bigger rewards for Women’s T20 World Cup teams

The upcoming International Cricket Council (ICC) Women’s T20 World Cup will offer its largest-ever prize pool in the competition’s history, increasing by 10% to US$8.76 million for the 2026 edition as compared to US$7,958,077 shared among the 10 competing nations two years ago.
The tournament will be held in England and Wales from June 12 to July 5. For the first time, 12 teams will compete. The winners will receive a prize of US$2.34 million, while the runners-up will earn US$1.17 million.
Semi-finalists, group-stage winners, and all participating teams will receive increased payouts. Each of the 12 teams is guaranteed a minimum of US$247,500.
ICC CEO Sanjog Gupta welcomed the growth and was delighted with the continued rise of women’s cricket.
“The growth of women’s cricket continues to accelerate, and the expansion of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup to 12 teams, combined with a record prize pool, underlines our commitment to building a stronger, more competitive global game.
“The continued rise of women’s cricket through increased investment and opportunity reflects the growing influence and impact of female athletes on the global stage,” Gupta said.
“With that same momentum building across every aspect of women’s cricket, this event is shaping up to not only set a host of new attendance and viewing records in the sports and media ecosystems but also leave a lasting impact on the wider socio-cultural landscape across the world.”
