Antigua to allow fully vaccinated fans for U-19 World Cup

Fully vaccinated fans will be allowed inside venues in Antigua when the country hosts the entire Super League segment of the ICC Under-19 Men’s World Cup 2022 starting next month.
Minister of Sports, Daryll Mathew said last week that could change depending on COVID-19 developments in the country, given the emergence of Omicron, a new variant of the virus.
The Under-19 World Cup will be held in the Caribbean from Jan. 14 to Feb. 5 and Antigua and Barbuda will host the quarter finals, semi-finals and title decider.
Matches will be held at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium and the Coolidge Cricket Ground, starting Jan. 26.
“As it is now, the intention is to allow fans who are vaccinated to the venues for the match,” he said.
Matthew promised the country will stand tall in hosting the tournament. He said the CG Insurance Super 50 tournament successfully hosted the entire event, as well as the Sri Lanka (men’s) tour, the Pakistan (women’s) tour and the South Africa (women’s) tour.
