Adams spreads holiday cheer with books, pajamas drive for children living in shelters

Mayor-elect and Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adams last week held a books and pajamas drive at Brooklyn Borough Hall in partnership with Target.

At the drive, the final one of his tenure at Brooklyn Borough Hall, Adams distributed various items to children living in 10 different homeless shelters, including 485 children’s books, 600 sets of pajamas, as well as 4,500 masks, Lysol wipes, gloves, bags, Kate Farms drinks and pens.

Adams, who will become Mayor of New York City on Jan. 1, also stressed the importance of spreading holiday cheer while remaining safe this season.

“The holiday season is upon us, and now, more than ever, our borough and city need some joy and light,” he said. “Our annual holiday drive is all about giving back to those in need, and, reminding ourselves that, despite the difficult circumstances we face, we are and always will be One Brooklyn.

“The holidays are about more than gifts; they are about giving thanks for the blessings we have,” Adams added. “In that spirit, I’d like to express the deepest gratitude to my staff and our partners who have made this annual event such a success over the years.”
