Adams parties with thousands at ‘Soiree Dans Le Parc’

New York Mayor Eric Adams was among more that 3,000 New York revelers on June 4, who descended on the waterfront at Brooklyn’s Army Terminal, Pier 4, for the fourth installment of the Brooklyn All-White Outdoor Popup Dinner Party “Soiree Dans Le Parc” that returned to the calendar after a brief hiatus due to the COVID 19 pandemic.

“It is awesome to have Mayor Adams party with us at the event,” an elated Sephron Mair, event organizer of The Signature Society, told Caribbean Life.

“The Mayor’s Office called before the event. They loved the concept of a friendly large gathering of friends and family expressing themselves in oneness,” he added. “He had to see for himself and immediately lent his help.

“He thoroughly enjoyed himself, so did many of our guests who took selfies with the Mayor, while others got autographs,” Mair continued. “All in all, everyone had fun.”

Mair said he was very satisfied with how things turned out.

“This year exceeded our expectations as the event was sold out two days early,” he said. “The transformation of the pier had everyone in awe, as they partied beyond the scheduled end time.”

Mair said that, each year, thousands of diners and partygoers eagerly await the announcement of the “secret location” at noon on event day.

“They then converge on the venue in their elegant white attire to hundreds of white lined tables and chairs,” he said. “The wide array of elaborate decorations and placements transform the space into an unimaginable setting for a dinner party and dance experience.

“The secret venue is part of the ‘experience’ weeks before the event,” Mair added. “Diners are engaged in planning and executing meal plans, beverages, décor, lighting, packaging and transportation, and the climax is the journey to the secret location.”

At about 7:00 p.m., he said the traditional “white napkin wave” by thousands, signifies the official start of dinner.

“The evening saw guests making the rounds to the many photo stops, browse their neighbor’s table settings and, of course, dance the night away to NYC’s top DJs, including DJ John Quick from urban station WLBS, 107.5 FM,” Mair said.

When asked about plans for events in the future, Mair said: “Jamaica is already being planned.

“I am happy to report that The Jamaica Tourist Board is onboard,” he said. “They have already assigned a coordinator.

“Gear up Jamaica!” he added. “We are coming for what promises to be loads of fun and excitement in the ‘Land of Wood and Water.’”

Part proceeds from the June 4 event was contributed to the main beneficiary, Food for the Poor, as well as to other local charities and organizations.
