Persaud honors Ronnie McNair with NYS Senate 2026 Veterans’ Hall of Fame Award

New York State Sen. Roxanne J. Persaud said Wednesday, July 8, that she visited the Millennium Development Penn Wortman Older Adult Center to “proudly present” the induction of Ronnie McNair into the New York State Senate 2026 Veterans’ Hall of Fame.

Persaud, the Guyanese-born representative for the 19th Senate District in Brooklyn, said the New York State Senate Veterans’ Hall of Fame recognizes exceptional veterans “whose military service and continued commitment have made a lasting impact on their communities.”

Persaud said McNair was unable to attend the official New York State Senate Veterans’ Hall of Fame ceremony held in Albany, “making this presentation a meaningful opportunity to recognize his distinguished military service and lifelong dedication to the community.”

She said McNair enlisted in the United States Marine Corps at 17 years old and “courageously served overseas in multiple countries.”

During his military service, Persaud said McNair was wounded in the line of duty “while defending our nation.”

Following his military career, Persaud said McNair continued his commitment to service by supporting fellow veterans through his work with the Veterans Association and the Wounded Warrior Project.

He also remains an “active and valued member” of the Millennium Development Penn Wortman Older Adult Center, “where he continues to inspire others through his resilience, leadership, and dedication.”

“It was my distinct honor to present Mr. Ronnie McNair with his New York State Senate Veterans’ Hall of Fame award,” Persaud said. “His extraordinary courage, sacrifice, and unwavering commitment to our country exemplify the very best of those who have served in our Armed Forces.”

“Mr. McNair has continued his legacy of service long after his military career by uplifting fellow veterans and remaining an active presence within our community,” she added. “We are forever grateful for his sacrifices and proud to recognize his remarkable contributions.”
