If increased consumer liquidity would have allowed for a Christmas season of relatively freer spending than might have been the case in previous years, sections of the business community would have emerged from that ‘time of the year’ pleased over a level of consumer spending which, arguably in an increased number of cases, would have surpassed affordability levels than in previous years.
