Jay Burna drops ‘Mawd’
Just in time for the summer, Haitian American artist/songwriter Jay Burna is “Mawd,” releasing the keylow-produced cut to get fan pumped up for the season’s upcoming festivities.
According to Aniyah Henry, publicist and project manager with the Brooklyn-based entertainment company, PlaybookMG, the track also features STARR, with the two artists “perfectly” complementing each other “to deliver a fun, energetic record that everyone can vibe to.”
Henry told Caribbean Life on Monday that Burna has been “making waves for years now, working with some of the biggest names in the game including T.I., Kid Ink, Khalil and Fetty Wap.
“Now working with incredible momentum once again, Jay Burna is fully focused on elevating his career to the next level, as well as his independent record label, Black Congress Music Group,” she said. “And ‘Mawd’ is a perfect front runner.”
Henry said the single will appear on Burna’s forthcoming project, “Dear You, No More Apologies”, that’s set to arrive in July.
Burna released his independent debut album, “Fear Is A Lie”, in 2015, which reached No. 45 on iTunes’ album chart.
In fall 2021, he followed up with an EP, “Trophy”, which “spawned one of his biggest singles to date, ‘U The Sh*t’, assisted by Hip-Hop legend T.I.,” Henry said.
She said the song and video have amassed millions of views and streams since its release.
“Running slightly under two minutes, ‘Mawd’ will certainly be in heavy rotation – a sign fans and DJs will run up Jay Burna’s new release,” Henry said.
