Women’s Super50 Cup, T20 Blaze begin in March
St. Kitts will be hosting this year’s Cricket West Indies Women’s Super50 Cup and Twenty20 Blaze from March 4 to 25.
“This year’s United Super50 Cup and T20 Blaze will be a great opportunity to build on what we started in 2023, with the creation of the West Indies Women’s Academy and the commendable performance of the Under-19 women’s team in the historic inaugural ICC Women’s U19 Cricket World Cup last year,” said CWI Director of Cricket, Miles Bascombe.
“2024 is a packed year in the women’s calendar with three away bilateral series in Asia along with an ICC Women’s T20 World Cup in Bangladesh.
“The ladies have the perfect opportunity to put their names forward for selection into any of these squads by their performances in the Super50 and T20 Blaze tournaments. We are all looking forward to some scintillating performances over in St. Kitts.”
With Anisa Mohammed, Shakera Selman, and the Knight twins, Kycia and Kyshona, four regulars in the West Indies Women’s squad over the past decade announcing their retirements, CWI is hoping for the best.
The Super50 tournament will be hosted at three venues, Warner Park, Conaree Cricket Centre, and St Paul’s Sports Complex between March 4 to 13. There will be three matches a day in the T20 Blaze all being played at Warner Park.
Barbados is the defending champions, and recently announced that Kycia Knight will lead the side, while West Indies Women’s Captain Hayley Matthews is omitted from the Barbados squad, as she is currently playing in the Women’s Premier League T20 tournament in India.
