WI โAโ to play first series in two years
West Indies โAโ team will play its first series since 2020 โ when the COVID-19 pandemic curtailed sporting activity โ when it hosts Bangladesh โAโ team for two four-day games and three 50-overs matches next month.
Cricket West Indies (CWI) and the Bangladesh Cricket Board last week announced the match scheduled for the Aug. 4-20 series will be played at the Darren Sammy Cricket Ground in St. Lucia.
The COVID-19 pandemic had restricted the opportunities for the squad to play and CWI said the resumption of the West Indies โAโ team matches sees the return of a key development opportunity for players pushing for selection to the West Indies senior teams and for the emerging players to build their first-class international experience.
CWI Senior Operations Manager, Roland Holder said the series would provide exposure for several players, noting that it was part of CWIโs commitment to continually develop talent for the international level.
He said St. Lucia will provide a platform for further exposure and progress.
