WI โ€˜Aโ€™ to play first series in two years

West Indies โ€œAโ€ team will play its first series since 2020 โ€” when the COVID-19 pandemic curtailed sporting activity โ€” when it hosts Bangladesh โ€œAโ€ team for two four-day games and three 50-overs matches next month.
Cricket West Indies (CWI) and the Bangladesh Cricket Board last week announced the match scheduled for the Aug. 4-20 series will be played at the Darren Sammy Cricket Ground in St. Lucia.
The COVID-19 pandemic had restricted the opportunities for the squad to play and CWI said the resumption of the West Indies โ€œAโ€ team matches sees the return of a key development opportunity for players pushing for selection to the West Indies senior teams and for the emerging players to build their first-class international experience.
CWI Senior Operations Manager, Roland Holder said the series would provide exposure for several players, noting that it was part of CWIโ€™s commitment to continually develop talent for the international level.
He said St. Lucia will provide a platform for further exposure and progress.
