W.I. will face Australia PM’s XI in four-day pink ball fixture
West Indies will face Australia PM’s XI in four-day pink ball fixture Down Under this month.
The match will take place in commemoration of the 70-year anniversary of the celebrated fixture.
It will be played from Nov. 23 to Nov. 26 under lights at the Manuka Oval in Canberra, will be part of the touring side preparation for the two Tests series against the hosts. “I am delighted to confirm the return of the Prime Minister’s XI, and Australian tradition that spans for 70 years,” said Australia Prime Minister Anthony Norman Albanese, along with Cricket Australia. “I am very excited to be welcoming the West Indies. I grew up often watching Vivian Richards, Malcolm Marshall and Joel Garner, so I am thrilled my first PM’s XI as prime minister will be against the current West Indies stars in Canberra.”
West Indies will face the Aussies in the opening Test in Perth, which starts on Nov. 30 after playing their first-ever pink-ball Test Down Under. Then the team travels to Adelaide for the second Test, which begins on Dec. 8.
West Indies coach Philip Verant Simmons who tendered his resignation after his team’s poor performance, has remained to coach the regional team.
