Visually-impaired Nigy Boy ‘mash-up’ Mashramani
After receiving a hero’s welcome two weeks ago in his country of birth, Jamaica, where he was announced as one of the headline acts for Reggae Sumfest 2024, New York-based, visually-impaired, fast-rising reggae superstar Nigy Boy jetted off to Georgetown, Guyana last weekend for a performance at Mashramani, Guyana’s annual festival that celebrates the country’s status as a republic.
“’Mash-A-Rama’ was definitely a vibe! This was my first time visiting Guyana and, everywhere I went, I was welcomed with open arms,” Nigy Boy told Caribbean Life on Monday.
Manager Chris Crooks also told Caribbean Life that Nigy Boy’s 20-minute set was “nothing short of impressive,” adding that “fans raved about his scintillating performance at Guyana’s National Park.
“Nigy’s performance was electrifying,” he said. “The 20,000 screaming fans in attendance sang ‘Continent’ word for word,” Crooks added.

While in Guyana, he said Nigy met President Dr. Mohamed Irfaan Ali, mere hours before he chaired the Conference of Heads of Government of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) at the National Cultural Centre in Georgetown.
“Meeting President Irfaan Ali and his First Lady Arya Ali was an unexpected surprise for me,” Nigy said. “To know that they endorse my talent is definitely an honor.”
Crooks said “Mash-A-Rama” also featured performances from Rajah Wild, Brysco, Kraff, Matic Queen and a guest appearance from music producer Rvssian.
Crooks said “’Continent’ has racked up an impressive 6.6 million views on YouTube and shows no signs of slowing down.”
He said Nigy’s second single by Rvssian, on the “Payment Plan Riddim,” will be released soon.
