UK recruits Caribbean healthcare workers
Due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic across the world that has depleted the workforce, and more than ever, in the health care profession, countries like the United Kingdom, as done in the 1950โs, is once again, recruiting Caribbean healthcare professionals to meet the demand of its aging population.
In a recent post on it Facebook page, Hubb Central Services Inc. put out a call to caregivers in Barbados and the Caribbean to apply for positions, as care assistants to work in โelderly care homesโ in the private UK healthcare sector.
All applications are to be done via Recruiting Hubb, Barbados. Candidates must be fully vaccinated or planning/willing to be vaccinated before they are vetted for the positions.
Hubb Central Services is working in collaboration with the UK Care Workers Program Recruitment of Care Workers, to fill the positions that will be one โstep upโ from care assistant and one โstep downโ from senior care assistant.
It said, contracts will be for 48 contracted hours per week at ยฃ10.13 per hour. Workers will have the option of workdays or night shifts on a rotation basis as required by the home, including some weekends.
Positions are open for nurses, nursing assistants, nursing auxiliaries, and care workers, who have good and clear experience in taking patients temperatures and pulses.
Additionally, persons must be trained in weighing, checking patientsโ vital signs, and performing urine tests. Extracting blood samples, is also preferred (but not essential) in order to be qualified for the positions.
Candidates who are successful in the application process, must start within three months, otherwise their certificate of sponsorship will expire, according to the agency, adding that Certificate of Sponsorship (COS) and offer of employment will be provided following a successful interview. Candidates can then apply for UK visa locally, of which employer will pay the required visa cost.
Flight and transfers to UK will be paid by employer, for one-year, permanent renewable contract, or three-year contract, if the client is looking for long term/permanent staff willing to relocate to the UK for a minimum of one year.
Accommodation will be provided at approx. ยฃ275 per month including utility bills.
Senior care assistants are on the UK Shortage Occupation List and therefore our client can offer โsponsorshipโ (known as skilled worker visas) for overseas care workers, according to the agency.
โWe are looking to recruit candidates who are โregistered nursesโ in their home country (but do not have the UK NMC nursing PIN yet), as well as candidates who are not registered nurses, but who do have some experience of working in care,โ said the agency.
The recruitment process will be done via video interview every 2-3 weeks. Successful applicants will be sent an offer of employment and a certificate of sponsorship by the client via Recruiting Hubb.
The successful candidate must then apply for the visa via the certificate of sponsorship. Flights and transfers are then booked by the organization for all candidates.
