T&T runner wins 400m Gold medal at World Championships

Trinidad and Tobagoโ€™s Jereem โ€œThe Dreamโ€ Richards captured menโ€™s 400 metre gold at the Worldโ€™ Athletics Indoor Championships in Belgrade, Serbia recently.
He is the first Trinidad and Tobago athlete to win this title although Richardโ€™s former teammate and friend, the late Deon Lenore, twice came close, by recording bronze medal finishes in the 400 metre in Birmingham, London in 2018 and Portland, Oregon in 2016.
ย Lenore, died in a vehicular accident in Texas last January.
Running out of lane six at the Stark Arena in Belgrade, Richards produced his best 400m indoor performance ever when he clocked a championship record and personal best time of 45 seconds flat.
The quarter-miler beat to the line American silver medalist Trevor Bassitt, who also clocked a personal best of 45.05s, followed by bronze receiver, Swedenโ€™s Carl Bengtrostrom in 45.33s.
