Thompson, Clayton secure gold at World Athletics meet
The MVP Track Club duo of Jamaicans Kishane Thompson and Tia Clayton, both won gold at the Astana Indoor Meet for Amin Tuyakov Prizes in Kazakhstan recently.
The 23-year-old, Olympic 100 metres silver medallist, Kishane Thompson was able to get his indoor season off to a winning start by capturing the 60 metres final in a time of 6.56 seconds at the opening World Athletics Indoor Tour Gold meeting of the year.
However, he did cause a little concern when he came up limping moments after winning the race.
Thompson had already previously signaled his intentions with a season-opening 6.48 seconds outdoors back in Jamaica last weekend when he won comfortably ahead of Oman’s Ali Anwar Baluchi who was second in 6.60 seconds and Japan’s Shuhei Tada who was third in 6.62 seconds.

Clayton’s twin sister, Tina, claimed bronze in 7.36 seconds, the same time as fourth place Magdalena Stefanowicz of Poland.
