T20 BLAST
Former West Indies all-rounder Kieron Pollard has joined English county Surrey for the T20 Blast bowling off this week.
The 35-year-old Pollard will link up with sidelined West Indies off-spinner, Sunil Narine for the campaign, which will see him featuring in domestic cricket for the first time in a decade.
Pollard, who retired from international cricket last month, is also set to feature in the Homeland for London Spirit, meaning that he will spend a significant period in England following his engagement with Mumbai Indians in the ongoing Indian Premier League.
Pollard has endured a wretched season in this year’s IPL, averaging 14 with the bat from 11 innings with a best of 25, while taking just four wickets from 14 overs of an economy rate of nearly nine.
Despite this he has remained in demand globally for his six-hitting power which has come to characterize his game throughout a stellar white-ball career.
Pollard has plundered 11, 571 runs from 592 appearance and has taken 308 wickets with his slow medium numbers that prompted Surrey to move for the white-ball specialist.
“We’re very pleased to bring Kieron to the club,” said Alex Stewart, Surrey’s cricket director.
Surrey has not won a domestic T20 title in nearly two decades.
