Roach becomes 7th highest wicket-taker in Tests for Windies
West Indies fast bowler, Kemar Roach got his name into West Indies cricket history when he overtook legendary Sir Gary Sobers — Barbados’ most revered living National Hero — on the all-time list is West Indies wicket-takers in Tests and assumed the seventh spot with 237 wickets.
He accomplished the feat at his home venue — Kensington Oval — where he picked up two for 68 in the second Test against England last Thursday.
Roach overtook Sir Gary when he claimed his first wicket of the innings, captain Joe Root for 153 in the second over after launch-LBW to a delivery.
“It feels good. Obviously to pass a legend like Sir Gary is a fantastic achievement. It’s good to be among the greats. To write my name on the wall above Sir Gary when it comes to wickets is a fantastic achievement,” the 33-year-old told reporters.
