Richie Stephens very satisfied being โCrazyโ
Jamaican dancehall artist, Richie Stephens says heโs quite contented in being โCrazy,โ with record sales of the single.
โI feel very satisfied with this new track, and I am equally proud of the music video, which will help to further galvanize support for the song,โ Stephens told Caribbean Life on Tuesday.
A remixed version of the track was recorded with dancehall DJ, Bounty Killa, and it has been getting โmad, crazy love from radio.โ
โThe only other time Bounty has called and demanded to get a verse in a song was about 22 years ago, when we recorded โMother You Deserve A Pot of Gold,โโ Stephens said.
โA few days after Bounty called, we got together in studio and recorded a new version of โCrazy,โโ he added. โIs fireballโฆmad crazy love from everyone. It is a bonafide hit now.โ
Stephens said a new video for the new track is in the works, stating that plans are to release it during the Christmas holidays.
Stephens recently released โCrazy,โ an upbeat, dancehall-tinged, Latin, Afrobeat single.
The fast-rising single, which features Stephensโ exquisite baritone vocals, comes on the heels of his successful 14-track disc, titled โMother & Sonโ, with his mother, Mama Carmen. It was released on Pot of Gold & Dubshot Records.
โCrazyโ was produced by Jamaica-based Shaka Pow of Outfytt Records and Chris Thomas of I.W.A.A.D Music in New York.
Stephens said the track made โan immediate impactโ in the ethnic market and is currently enjoying rotation on radio stations in Jamaica, the US, Canada and the United Kingdom.
โThe visuals for โCrazyโ, which was directed by Xtreme Arts, is expected to capture the imagination of music lovers worldwide,โ Stephens said.
He said the video features Dance Xpressionz, a professional dance company, which, since its inception, has won over 20 medals and national trophies, and over 15 major awards, including Dance Group of the Year and Best International Dance Group.
