Noval Frontier Film Festival goes virtual June 17-20
In recognition of this yearโs theme Past, Present, Future home, Nova Frontier Film Festival and Lab, will present the 2021 virtual edition of its Film Festival, during the Junteenth weekend from June 17 โ 20.
Now in its fourth year, the festival that will once again be hosted in collaboration with Billie Holiday Theatre and Laurel Channel TV, will feature films that centers on the complex and timely issues of social and economic injustice, both locally, exploring the idea of home, identity, belonging and the resilience of marginalized voices.
The festival will also highlight the concepts of Black joy, resistance, and the liberation of Black and Brown bodies in America, and will showcase works from African Diaspora, the Middle East and Latin America.
NFFF 2021 will feature a comprehensive line-up consisting 16 curated long-and- short-form films and panel discussions, designed to create a far-reaching platform for independent filmmakers and artists to be able to share their stories and perspectives with the world.
Laurence Olivier, award winner and Tony Award-nominated actress, Noma Dumezweni, who recently starred in the HBO hit series The Undoing, will serve as the master of ceremonies for the opening night of the festival.
Panel moderators are award winning documentary filmmaker Thomas Allen Harris, and filmmakers, closing night, Master of Cermony is Tony Nominated Dancer, Actress and Choreographer, Karine Plantadit.
Some of the films will include โLiftedโ by Miquel Galofre (Trinidad & Tobago), and โYour Kidโ by Nelson Foix (Guadeloupe).

Pierre (Canada), โBlack in the Islandโ by Amanda Valle (Dominican Republic), โEl Remansoโ by Sebastian Valencia Munoz (Colombia), โEl Silencio Del Rioโ by Francesca Canepa (Peru), โEtheralityโ by Gahigiri Kantarama (Switzerland/Rowanda), โInner Selfโ by Mohammad Hormozi (Iran), and Tattooed by Jean-Baptiste Dusseaux (France), among others.
