Nigy Boy shines at โRumpy Weekendโ in Caymans
Fast rising music prodigy Nigy Boy proved his mettle at โRumpy Weekendโ in cash-rich George Town, Grand Cayman, an island whose economy boasts the highest per capita income in the Caribbean.
โThe visually impaired New York based singer delivered a blistering performance that left many reggae lovers begging for more,โ Anthony Turner, the New York-based, Jamaican-born entertainment publicist, told Caribbean Life on Tuesday.ย
โEvidence of the love Cayman has for the New York-based โContinent Bossโ was evident when he and his touring party were whisked through Immigration & Customs on their arrival to the capital, located just 270 miles west of Jamaica,โ he added.ย
โTwo hours later, more good tidings came Nigyโs way, thanks to Nicaragua transplant Griega Sambola at the Kirk Freeport located at The Strand shopping mall, who gifted the singer a special menโs cologne that Nigyโs continent of women will find hard to resist,โ Turner continued. โEvent promoter Rumpy also rolled out the red carpet for Nigy, booking his team at one of the top hotels on the seven-mile strip on the island.โย

Hours later on stage, at the Lions Club of Tropical Gardens, Turner said Nigy opened with a powerful rendition of the gospel classic โGoodness of Godโ, which will be released as a single with 11-year-old Canadian actress/songbird Jazmin Headley.ย
After tantalizing the audience with the inspirational song, Turner said Nigy unleashed a barrage of familiar dancehall and reggae favorites.ย
In his set, curated by selector/hype man DJ Skipp, Turner said the hits โflowed like hot lavaโ, including โKarmaโ, โLover Not A Fighterโ, โYou & Iโ and โNomadโ.ย
Turner said the explosive climax came towards the end with hit singles โJudgmentโ and โContinentโ.ย
Nigyโs next big outing will take place on Friday, August 30 (Labour Day Friday) at the Brooklyn Museum, where he will join reggae/dancehall compatriot Christopher Martin and soca stars Patrice Roberts, Farmer Nappy, Mr Killa and Tallpree for what promises to deliver pure fireworks.ย
Turner said that, earlier, 22-year-old Jamaican singjay Nhance, the son of Gaza Sheba from Vybz Kartelโs Gaza Empire, continued his streak of good luck with another โrazzle dazzle performance that was well received by the audience.โ
Three weeks ago, Turner said Nhance was relatively unknown in dancehall circles โbut thanks to an impressive cameo at Reggae Sumfest during Tee Jayโs set, where he shared that he was anticipating fatherhood but informed that his son passed away just a few days after birth.ย
โHis fortunes changed with the Sumfest call, where he delivered an impressive five-minute performance,โ Turner said. โAs they say, the rest is history.โ
