‘NICE UP’

Stand-out dancehall lyricist Bounty Killer, still one of the hottest acts on the scene nearly 30 years after his debut, has lent his unique sound to a hot new collaborative track with up-and-comer Tia.

Their song, “Nice Up”, is, in effect, a party-starting track.

“And they have a music video in the works for the project, too,” Sarah A. Freiseis, special projects manager at the Brooklyn-based entertainment company PlayboodMG, told Caribbean Life.

In the meantime, Bounty released a lyric video for the song via his Verified Vevo Channel on YouTube (https://youtu.be/MtQJBeOCKjg).

“The lyric video is a playful cartoon featuring Tia and Bounty as characters,” Freiseis said. “Their avatars are super fly and exude an authentic vibe, singing and dancing at a club scene – quite literally portrayed before a DJ booth with bumping speakers, a light show and a crowd.

“The pair proves a powerful combo both musically and in performing together,” she added. “The Troyton Music production is, undoubtedly, an apropos teaser for the music video to come.

“Quite notably, Bounty Killer reclaimed the spotlight during the onset of COVID-19 pandemic quarantine by participating in a Verzuz battle with former rival turned collaborator Beanie Man,” Freiseis continued.

Bounty Killer has also revealed that, after 18 years, a new album produced by Damian Marley is on the way.

Freiseis said Tia (Tiara Mills) is “a lover’s rock reggae/dancehall artist and singer-songwriter based out of the Virgin Islands.

“Tia has opened for several artists, such as Beres Hammond, Etana, I-Octane, Jah 9 and Busy Signal,” she said. “While still relatively green, she has already garnered industry support, and it started with her debut EP ‘Black Cocoon’ hitting the Top 5 on the Reggae iTunes charts.”
