Mr. Killa ‘floats’ on Angela Yee Day

The Brooklyn-based entertainment company PlaybookMG says Grenada’s international soca star Mr. Killa on Aug. 27 “floated” in the crowd during the 5th annual Angela Yee Day at the Barclays Center Plaza, downtown Brooklyn.

“Mr. Killa’s epic performance had him floating in the crowd, literally,” Jada Langdon, project manager at PlaybookMG, told Caribbean Life.

“Mr.Killa is known for having people flying in the air,” she added. “In his true fashion, he stood on a table while fans held up while performing his hit song ‘Run wid it.’

“This trend comes after his viral performance at Pree Day in Grenada, where he went viral on social media for crowd surfing on a grate,” continued Langdon, stating that the free event at the Barclays Center Plaza included performances, massages and a game truck.

Hosted in conjunction with the Joe and Clara Tsai Foundation and Social Justice Fund, she said the Angela Yee Day provided many resources, including Free COVID Testing, and highlighted other top Caribbean performers in the heart of Flatbush, now known as “Little Caribbean.”

They comprised, among others, the legendary Nadine Sutherland, Bunji Garland, Fay-Ann Lyons, Motto, and Ishawna.

“Mr. Killa continues to make international noise with his vibrant stage presence,” said Langdon, stating that he became the first Grenadian performer to headline the Karibbean Rendez-Vous Music Festival in Paris, alongside artists such as Shenseea, Sean Paul, Elephant Man and Patrice Roberts.

“He is set to release his first EP this year, as he plans to continue to help soca become a recognized genre in the mainstream,” she added.
