MEC professor plans ‘magnificent’ tours beyond iconic pyramids in Egypt

A distinguished Medgar Evers College (MEC) Art History Professor and his Sankofa World Tours are already planning for their annual “magnificent” tour to Egypt, taking travelers beyond the iconic pyramids in Egypt.

Guyanese-born Dr. Clinton Crawford, who is the founder, president and chief executive officer of the Brooklyn-based Sankofa World Tours, told Caribbean Life on Monday that this year’s tour includes travel to over 15 sites, with a four-day, five-star luxury cruise down the Nile River.

He said the July 14-28 tour, departing from New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport, also provides “the best hotel accommodations, all-inclusive, with international and local air in Egypt, modern air-conditioned buses, English-speaking guide, plus a lot more.”

“Planning a great educational tour takes time, skill, specialized knowledge and contacts,” Dr. Crawford said. “You need to leave all the planning in the hands of the experts and those who understand the kind of experiences you are looking for in a trip of lifetime

With 20 years of traveling to Egypt and elsewhere in Africa, Dr. Crawford said his service is “your best choice.”

“We provide you with a broader and more complete range of services that cannot be found on the Internet,” he said. “The ability to contact a real person can make all the difference when you have a problem or need some special advice or assistance.

“A good travel team first gets to know you and learns about you, your approach to travel, and what you like to see and do,” he added. “We do just that at Egypt tours – Africa travel tours.

“In the complex Internet world of travel, you may end up booking your travel arrangements over many different websites through different suppliers, located in different countries,” Dr. Crawford continued. “This can be a frustrating and painful process, with the smallest change and no one to speak within moments notice.”

He said the tour includes visits to the Step Pyramid at Saqqara; the Giza Pyramids & Sphinx; the Nubian Museum; Ramesses II Rock cut temple, Abu Simbel; Isis Temple, the Unfinished Obelisk and the “beautiful” Sobek Temple at Kom Ombo; a cruise up the Nile River; the Temple of Horus; sail via Esna towards Luxor; the Temple of Horus/Heru at Edfu; the Valley of the Kings (West Bank); and the Temple of Queen Hatshepsut at Deir el Bahri, Ramesses III Temple (Medinet Habu) and Colossi of Amenhotep III (“Memnon”).

Other visits include: Temple of Karnak, Amen Ra and Hypostyle Hall, Avenue of the Ram-headed Sphinxes; the Grand Lodge of Luxor with the Avenue of the Human-headed Sphinxes (East Bank); Karnak Temple – Avenue of the Ram-headed Sphinxes; Luxor Temple; facade of Seti I Temple at Abydos; Free day in Luxor for leisure; the Egyptian Museum of Art; Egyptian Museum in Giza; and optional one-day tour to Alexandria, Egypt’s second largest modern city. which is located on the Mediterranean Sea.

“We will do our best to match tour members with roommates; however, we cannot promise a share,” Dr. Crawford said.
