Jersey City to celebrate carnival festivities on July 22

Carnival Ambassador Cheryl DB Murphy, president and founder of the Jersey City Caribbean American Carnival, said the stage is set for the Grand Finale Carnival Parade Weekend Friday, July 21 at 11 a.m. with a BARBIE Movie Outing at Cityplex Movie Theater. This will follow with an 8 p.m. J’ouvert Experience, followed by the carnival road march and parade on Saturday, July 22.

“Jersey City will come alive with the colors, flavors and sounds of the Caribbean with the 28th staging of the ultimate Caribbean Carnival. Step off for the street parade with us at Lincoln Park, Belmont Ave, and JFK Blvd, or join us at the City Hall Grandstand,” she said, adding that kick off time is at noon.

“The parade of bands will be wining, chipping’ down JKF Blvd to our Grandstand located at City Hall, 280 Grove Street then proceeding to the end at Columbus Drive & Warren,” noted Murphy, an award-winning community leader.

After the parade of bands all roads will lead to the pier! And according to her, “We will begin our Grand Marshal Roaming Relay Day 1 at J. Owen Grundy Park Waterfront at 5 p.m. for our Day Lime hosted by GM ‘23 David Isidor & GM ’22 Justin “DeepJust” Hyppolite, Jr., at 7 p.m.”

An Evening Lime under the canopy at Common Earth Company hosted by GM’23 Tyrone Rose and the Last Lap Lime hosted by GM ’22 Sarrah Ann Baseanoo will be held at Sarrah Café TrinBago in Orange, NJ.

The festivities will continue Sunday, July 23, at noon in Hoboken with a Heal & Release Day Lime hosted by GM ‘23 David Isidor & GM ’22 Justin “DeepJust” Hyppolite, Jr. at the Hoboken Riverfront.

“We invite the world community at large to join and assist in making a rich Jersey City Carnival experience. Let’s continue to celebrate Caribbean American culture and Build Community Together,” said Murphy, who noted that the Jersey City Caribbean American Carnival, under its Foundation hosted an exciting array of activities during the month of July.
