Jamaican-born soulful blind singer Nigy Boy, for jerk fest cultural stage
Twenty-one-year-old viral sensation, Nigel Hector, stage name, Nigy Boy, captivated a listening audience with his rendition describing his favorite Jamaican foods, and other favorites, at a recent VP Records Jerk Festival 2022 launch in Jamaica, Queens,
The Montego Bay, Jamaican-born soloist become famous for his melodies, titled, “Superwoman,” “Living Proof,” and “Single Spoil Boy,” proving that being visually impaired does not hinder him creating, and memorizing verses for a successful career in music.
He told this reporter that he has been singing all his life, and he remembers lyrics, “and execute,” when he is performing.
Nigy Boy, who could be described as a miracle child, after his mother’s doctor had given her a diagnosis that he would not survive outside of the womb. However, the phenom is healthy, except he is unable to see.
From listening to his brilliant lyrics, and ability to sing with and entertain, it is evident that the doctor was wrong in his assessment, as Nigy Boy has beaten all odds, and is today in the United States using his other senses, and figuratively looking towards the future, with dreams of becoming a mega star to cement his name as another recording Jamaican artiste.
His music is burning up social media platforms as he shows great promise in front of crowds. He was very responsive to the re-vibrated music, and the cheers he received after his very confident and articulate performance.
From the sound of his lyrics, it can be certainly said that Nigy Boy sings from the heart, from experience, and from a history to listening to the classic pop, R&B, and Reggae music.
The up-and-coming artists, who is known for his smooth sound, and called a blind soulful singer, is being compared to American hit makers, Usher, and the Weekend.
Nigy Boy will make his debut, when he takes up his place among legendary Soca and Reggae, and Dancehall artists, at the 10th Annual Jerk Festival, on July 31, at Roy Wilkins Park, Queens. The event will run from noon – 8:00 p.m.
