Dumornay, Mondesir complete incredible windows
“Haiti players Melchie Dumornay and Nerilia Mondesir will not soon forget this past window. Dumornay delivered a performance for the ages in the two games against Saint Kitts and Nevis, scoring five goals in the 11-0 victory in the first match, followed by a hat-trick in the 13-0 triumph,” CONCACAF said. “Dumornay also chipped in with an assist.”
CONCACAF said Mondesir was just as prolific, scoring four goals with a hat trick in the first game and a score in the second.
“However, Mondesir was the ultimate playmaker, contributing an astounding eight assists to help Haiti take a commanding lead atop their League A group,” it said.
Cedeno’s game-winner for Panama vs. Jamaica
CONCACAF said Group B of League A has been “a series of twists and turns and with the minutes ticking down, it looked like Panama would be forced to settle for a 1-1 draw at home against Jamaica.
“But 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup goalscorer Lineth Cedeno had other plans, as she found the back of the net in the 84th minute to deliver a crucial three points for Panama,” it said. “Following the window, Panama sit atop Group B with six points, two points ahead of Guatemala, with Cedeno’s winning score against Jamaica serving as the difference.”
El Salvador clinching Prelims spot
CONCACAF said El Salvador’s women’s football program continues to make great strides, adding that another step forward was their clinching a spot in the W Gold Cup Prelims.
El Salvador picked up a pair of wins against Honduras, 1-0 and 5-0, to seal a first-place finish in Group B of League B and also advance to the Prelims, CONCACAF said.
It said Danielle Fuentes was the star of the show, scoring the winning goal in the 1-0 win and then a brace in the second contest.
Guyana beat Suriname to seize Group A League B lead
CONCACAF said the October window was “gut-check time for Guyana in Group A of League B and they passed with flying colors.
“Paired with second-place Suriname in back-to-back encounters, Guyana never blinked, getting a pair of 1-0 triumphs over the Surinamese,” it said.
CONCACAF said Shanice Alferd found the winning in the first game in Suriname, while Otesha Charles delighted the home fans in the second win. Guyana are now atop Group A by three points over Suriname.
Bonaire earn first victory
CONCACAF said that Thurs., Oct. 26, will “forever live in Bonaire football lore, as it marked the first ever victory for the Bonaire Senior Women’s National Team.”
Just one month after making their debut as a senior national team in a 0-0 draw against Turks and Caicos Islands, CONCACAF said Bonaire rallied from a 1-0 deficit to claim a 3-1 win versus Aruba.
“Even more impressive is that Bonaire had to play the entire second half a player down while holding a slim 2-1 lead and then managed to tack on a late insurance score, it said.
Hatchi saves two PKs for Guadeloupe
While the window saw Guadeloupe fall to Cuba in back-to-back games, 2-0 and 3-0, CONCACAF said their fans will never forget the goalkeeping heroics of Anais Hatchi.
It said Hatchi made 15 saves during the two matches, including saving a penalty in each match, “a feat rarely seen in CONCACAF women’s football competition.
