Guyanese soca royalty Shelly G on a mission to promote new artistes

Guyanese Soca royalty Shelly G, wearing a sexy red jumpsuit with a revealing cut-out design on the sides of the outfit, and carrying her signature Golden Arrowhead Guyana flag, rocked the Nautical Princess during an epic performance on her first ever musical sail from Brooklyn, with a mission to support and promote artistes like herself, who are struggling to break into the industry.

Christened Shelly Garraway, the exciting hit-maker, well-known for her infectious stage performances, the first woman to capture the crown as “Guyana Carib Monarch,” revved-up the boat with some of her latest hits, like “Touch Meh” penned by the artiste, much to the delight of her fanbase at the “Take A Ride Wid Me” boat party, last Sunday, Aug. 13.

Shelly G, whose music has been heating up the charts, hopes to bring along performers with her, not only during her engaging summer lineup but also along the way towards success in the industry.

The songstress will be joining the Guyana Day 2022 Cultural Festival, a production by Caribbean PowerJam Radio set for Aug. 28, at the Coney Island Amphitheater, 3065 W21 Street, Brooklyn. Showtime is 6pm.

The multi-talented artiste who is working on new dancehall music, and is influenced by chart topping female singers Beyonce, Rihanna, Spice, Allison Hinds, Destra, and Lady Saw – told Caribbean Life she wants to use her influence and her status as a world-renowned artiste with 118,000 social media followers to help promote up-and-coming artists to the world, some who were a part of the lineup at the “Take A Ride wid Me.” voyage.

“I want to use this avenue to help others, said Shelly G, who will also be on stage at the Chutney Meets Soca – live performances by chutney and soca artistes.

The show will be held on Friday, Sept. 2, at Caribbean Fest Lounge, 116-14 Rockaway Blvd., from 8 p.m.
