Entrepreneur Jennifer Rampersad: From humble beginnings to financial empowerment pioneer
Jennifer Rampersad, an entrepreneur, author, radio host, and self-made millionaire, aims to help individuals and families achieve financial empowerment and break generational curses.
Rampersad’s journey from a young immigrant from Berbice, Guyana, to a successful businesswoman has been shaped by her deep commitment to financial literacy, credit education, and unwavering resilience in adversity. She grew up in a family of humble beginnings.
“My parents and I came from Guyana, and they worked tirelessly to provide for us,” said Rampersad. “Together, they held five jobs, bought a home within a year and a half, and paid for our college without incurring debt. Watching their sacrifices inspired me to pursue financial security and independence, not just for myself, but for others.”
Though she initially pursued a career in the medical field — holding director positions at both Interfaith Medical Center and Regal Park Nursing Home — Rampersad ultimately decided to follow her passion for entrepreneurship. “realized credit was the key,” she noted. “earning about credit at 16 set the foundation for my success.”
Rampersad now runs a credit repair business, A Plus Credit Repairs, dedicated to educating communities on the importance of credit. “A strong credit score isn’t just about buying a house or car; it gives people the ability to handle emergencies, access capital, and improve their quality of life,” she explained. “Many people do not realize how much credit can impact their lives, and I work to change that.”

As a seasoned radio personality, she has brought her voice and perspective to five stations, reaching diverse audiences across New York City and further afield. Her work includes programs on 93.5 FM, where she connects with listeners on various topics, and Future FM, engaging with the latest music and community issues. She also hosts Red Hot Radio and Radio 620 AM shows, known for their dynamic discussions and cultural content. Additionally, her voice can be heard on Sound Chat Radio and Caribbean Power Jam Radio, bringing Caribbean news, music, and conversations to listeners.
She previously broadcasted on 95.9 FM, and her presence across multiple stations underscores her commitment to engaging and informing the community with a distinctly Caribbean flair.
Her journey has not been without setbacks. Rampersad openly shares her experiences with financial and personal challenges, including complex divorces and losing her home during Hurricane Sandy. However, each time, she found a way to rebuild. “I lost my house, my job, but I made a vow to never rely on anyone else for my or my daughter’s future,” she said. “I turned those losses into lessons, focused on my credit business, and expanded into real estate investing and Airbnb rentals.”
She is also a survivor of domestic violence, turning her pain into purpose by raising her voice against abuse on every platform she can. “I know the darkness that too many live through,“ she shares, “and I want others to feel hope, to know that they can find light again.” Her journey fuels her advocacy, reminding others that healing and strength are possible.
Rampersad’s unwavering faith also plays a significant role in her life. A minister and businesswoman, she attributes her success to “crazy faith“ and hard work. “Faith without work is dead,“ she emphasized. “I believe in putting in the effort — whether it is managing my Airbnb rentals personally when needed or constantly learning new skills to stay ahead.“ Rampersad’s message to those struggling with financial hurdles is to remain teachable and committed. “When people think they know everything, they stop learning. I am always learning and adapting, which has sustained my journey,“ she said.
Today, Rampersad advocates for financial empowerment, determined to help others build generational wealth and find financial freedom. Her story resonates with the spirit of resilience, offering a blueprint for overcoming obstacles and using financial literacy for lasting change.
Rampersaud is a family-oriented person who is happily married with a daughter who was a child actress, a grandson, and bonus daughters. Her life centers around family and faith.
