Eleven-year-old Jamaican-Canadian prodigy teams up with Nigy Boy on ‘Goodness of God’

Eleven-year-old Jazmin Headley is not your average youngster. The Jamaican-Canadian prodigy is an accomplished singer, actress, dancer and voice-over specialist, who is turning heads with her soon-to-be released duet, “Goodness of God”, which was recorded with rising New York reggae superstar Nigy Boy.

Supa Jamz radio host Kirk “Captain Kirk” Nelson, who teased “Goodness of God” on his program recently, told Caribbean Life on Monday: “You should see the chat room when I play he song. Unbelievable! The song is the best I have heard in a long time.

“Nigy will be a force to be reckoned with, as he has vocals to die for,” he added. “Jazmin is young and is just as talented. I see a bright future for both.”

Dancehall DJ Rodney “Bounty Killer” Pryce, who shared a short clip of the song with his nearly 1 million followers on Instagram posted, “One of the best gospel songs out right now.”

“The music project is very special,” Jazmin’s mom Deborah Myers told Caribbean Life. “I had the great opportunity to meet Nigy Boy when the video was shot. He is one of the most beautiful souls.

“The project took time and determination, and it’s a huge accomplishment,” she added. “There are so many emotions associated with this song. We worked hard and kept pushing to the end. It’s a big celebration now that the release date is almost here.”

Jazmin also told Caribbean Life she had fun working on “Goodness of God.”

“Working with Nigy Boy was so much fun,” she said. “He is one of the most amazing, funniest people one can ever meet. His space is calm, quiet and he creates a balance with everything he does.

“Our voices came together, and we worked so well. It was a day of fun and enjoyment,” she added. “I hope to do other projects with Nigel. His inspiration is into law, and my goal is to become a judge. So, I know the universe has locked us in as he has so much knowledge and never let the odds define him.

“He is seeing his own world,” Jazmin continued. “The song is about the goodness of god, and it speaks for itself.”

Jazmin’s dad, Mark Headley, could not be prouder.

“I am incredibly proud and excited about this moment in my daughter’s career,” he said. “Watching her passion and talent shine through in both ‘Fire Inside’ in ‘Goodness of God’ has been a profound experience for our family.

“It’s amazing to see her hard work and dedication come to fruition, and I’m thrilled for her as she takes these significant steps in her career,” he added. “As a parent, there is nothing more rewarding than seeing your child pursue their dreams with such enthusiasm and skill. We are all immensely proud of her achievements and are looking forward to supporting her as she continues to grow and explore her talents.”

The video and song, which was produced/directed by Anthony “ER Guru” Turner and Paul Drewgad, will be released globally on Sept. 7, to coincide with the screening of the movie “The Fire Inside” at the Toronto International Film Festival.

Jazmin plays young “T-Rex” Shields, a boxer from Flint, Michigan in the movie.

“The Fire Inside” was directed by Rachel Morrison, who was nominated for an Academy Award for the movie Mudbound (2017).

She has also worked on the film Black Panther (2018).
