CaribStar Radio launches first Caribbean station on iHeartRadio
CaribStar Radio recently launched the first Caribbean station on iHeartRadio in a groundbreaking development in digital broadcasting.
Bobby Clarke, the Jamaican-born co-founder of CaribStar Radio, told Caribbean Life on Friday that the radio platform, which streams 24/7, is “a game-changer in how the Caribbean Diaspora connects with its roots, music and culture.
“CaribStar Radio brings a fresh, dynamic approach to Caribbean broadcasting, building on the esteemed legacy of Irie Jam Radio, which celebrated its 30th anniversary in 2023,” he said. “CaribStar Radio is not just a continuation of a legacy; it’s a new chapter in uniting the Caribbean Diaspora.
“Our partnership with iHeartRadio, a first for a Caribbean station, underscores our passion and commitment to delivering quality content that resonates with our audience,” added Clarke, stating that, when 93.5FM, WVIP Irie Jam Radio, went off air after its sale, “the Caribbean community in the New York tri-state area lost its voice for the first time in 30 years.
“It was sheer devastation, not just because its voice was lost, but it also lost a major vehicle for commerce that kept industries in our community functioning,” Clarke continued. “The missing media platform left a gaping void in communications within the community. Brooklyn residents had no idea what was happening in Queens or Bronx, and Westchester has no idea as to what’s happening in Long Island.”
He said the CaribStar Radio deal with iHeart is “an enormous advancement for the Caribbean community nationwide.
“The partnership has largely amplified the voice of all Caribbean nationals living in America,” he said. “This new reach will allow our culture, music and our commerce opportunities for the 170 million registered users on the iHeart Radio platform.”
Clarke said the station features an “impressive lineup” of radio personalities, including DJ Roy, DubbMaster Chris, Jabba, DJ Cali B, Kevin Crown, Vayne, Fatta Diamond, Young Chow, Steelie Bashment, DJ Stakz and Riggo Suave, and top Caribbean broadcasters and DJs, “ensuring vibrant and diverse programming around the clock.”
“CaribStar Radio is poised to be a catalyst for growth and unity, bringing the richness of Caribbean culture to the forefront of the global stage,” Clarke said.
Recording artist Rupert “Rupee” Clarke said “CaribStar Radio isn’t just a station; it’s a legacy reborn.
