Caribbean business stalwart Patrick Jolly passes

One of the Caribbeanโ€™s remarkable and prominent business leaders Patrick Jolly succumbed to his illness and died at his home in Long Island, New York, last Thursday.

The community knows of him because Patrick Jolly was affiliated with the well-known Jamaican Tower Isle Frozen Food business on Atlantic Avenue in Brooklyn, with its delicious, mouthwatering golden patties the company became a house-hold name for many Caribbean residents in New York City.

Jolly joined the 56-year-old company and started working as a bookkeeper for the founders, Jamaicans Earl and Beryl Love, in their Crown Heights location in 1968 selling patties to local retailers.

Shortly after he started working there as a book-keeper Jollyโ€™s ability and expertise in business led to a significant improvement in the operations, production, and sales of Tower Isle Frozen Food. Thus, upon the passing of its founder Earl Love, his wife Beryl turned to her able and trusted employee Patrick Jolly in 1995 to continue operating the companyโ€™s business, allowing the success to continue.

Jolly continue to improve the business making the companyโ€™s one of the best and finest Caribbean businesses in New York City. After the death of Beryl Love in 2011, Jolly became the president and CEO of Tower Isle Frozen Food until his retirement in 2018.

Known for his skillfulness to maneuver business, tactful ways to find the best solutions, business savvy, dedication, and integrity Jolly has given his all to humanity, the people he served. This reporter first met him while working asย  a journalist for Caribbean Life newspaper in New York City. His credibility has never changed, always steadfast and honest. On several occasions this reporter contacted Mr. Jolly to conduct business opportunities with him. He was always at his best.

Patrick Jolly received the Order of Distinction (OD) from the Jamaican government in October 2015 for his outstanding contribution to the community.
