Cairo brace propels Robinhood to Caribbean Cup Shield title
Suriname club Robinhood is champion of the 2023 CONCACAF Caribbean Club Shield in St. Kitts and Nevis after posting a 5-1 victory over Martinique’s Golden Lion on Sunday at the SKNFA Technical Centre in Basseterre.
CONCACAF said Shaquille Cairo led the way for the five-time CONCACAF Champions Cup runners-up with a pair of goals in the 37’ and 39’.
Cairo was joined on the scoresheet by Dimitri Andro in the 26’, Jamilhio Rigters in the 71’ and Renske Adipi in the 77’.
In addition to helping his team win the title, CONCACAF said Cairo finished as the tournament’s top scorer with 10 goals.
Golden Lion got their goal from Alvyn Lamasine in the 68’. Lamasine finished the Shield with six goals, CONCACAF said.
In the Third-Place Match, it said Club Sando of Trinidad and Tobago defeated Metropolitan of Puerto Rico 6-1.
“Nicholas Dillon banged in three second half goals, in the 66’, 68’, 88’ to help power Club Sando to a finish on the podium,” CONCACAF said.
It said Dillon finished the tournament with seven goals, second behind Cairo on the top scorers list.
Joining Dillon on the scoresheet for Club Sando was Luke Phillip in the 10’, Nicholas Thomas in the 31’ and Ezekiel Kesar in the 44’, while Karlos Ferrer scored in the 39’ for Metropolitan, CONCACAF said.
