Pooran, Marsh, and Pant power Lucknow Super Giants to IPL win, ending 6-game skid

Lucknow Super Giants pulled off a crucial nine-run win over Royal Challengers Bengaluru in a high-scoring, rain-reduced match in the Indian Premier League at the Ekana Stadium in India. LSG successfully defended 219 in a 19-over contest, bouncing back from a difficult season and ending a six-match losing streak.

The foundation of the victory was laid by a spectacular innings from Mitchell Marsh, who smashed 111 off just 56 balls, reaching his century in only 49 balls.

His aggressive batting dominated the innings, which was well supported by Nicholas Pooran, who contributed a quick 38 off 23 balls, helping LSG maintain a strong scoring rate throughout the innings.

A late 32 off 10 balls from captain Rishabh Pant pushed LSG to a daunting total.

Rain interruptions briefly halted play, but LSG resumed strongly, with Marsh continuing his aggressive approach against both pace and spin.

Despite losing a new opening partner early, LSG still managed a powerful finish, scoring 64 runs in the final five overs to set RCB a challenging target.

RCB’s chase began poorly and never fully recovered after a decisive spell from Prince Yadav, who produced a standout performance, first dismissing Virat Kohli for a duck. He struck again later, removing Devdutt Padikkal and Jitesh Sharma in quick succession, finishing with impressive figures and shifting momentum firmly in LSG’s favour.

RCB put up a fight through Rajat Patidar, who contributed a quickfire 26-ball fifty. He took control during the middle overs and briefly raised hopes of a successful chase. However, his dismissal followed soon after and halted RCB’s momentum at a crucial stage.

LSG’s bowling attack held firm in the closing overs, ensuring RCB could not close the gap. In the end, LSG’s early batting explosion combined with key bowling breakthroughs proved decisive. The win kept their season alive, while RCB remained in third place, still in strong playoff contention.
