Phillip leads Red Force victory while Pride thrashes Scorpions

The Leeward Islands Hurricanes are fighting to avoid defeat against Trinidad and Tobago Red Force at the Antigua Recreation Ground in Antigua.

Red Force posted a massive first innings total of 522 for nine declared, while the Hurricanes replied with 345, despite superb knocks by Jahmar Hamilton with 121 and Karima Gore with 90.

In their second innings, the Hurricanes struggled early as Anderson Phillip ripped through the team to leave them on 55 for three, accounting for the wickets of Kofi James for three, Gore for two, and Mikyle Louis for 20, then later 160 for four, with only a small lead.

Keacy Carty, unbeaten on 84, helped stabilise the innings with partnerships alongside Jewel Andrew and captain Justin Greaves, keeping hopes alive and ensuring Red Force will have to bat again.

Pride thrashes Scorpions

At Sabina Park in Jamaica, the Barbados Pride secured a convincing innings and 11-run victory over the Jamaica Scorpions on the third day, thanks largely to their dominant spin attack as they grabbed nine wickets in the second innings to bowl their team to victory.

After being asked to follow on by 297 runs, the Scorpions showed improvement in their second innings, but it still wasn’t enough to make Pride bat again, as they were bowled out for 286.

Left-arm spinner Joshua Bishop was the standout performer, taking five wickets in the innings to add to his four-wicket haul earlier in the match. He was well supported by Jomel Warrican, who claimed two wickets, while Roston Chase and Kraigg Brathwaite each picked up one.

The Scorpions struggled early after resuming on 22 for one, losing wickets at regular intervals and slipping to 158 for six.

Brandon King offered some resistance with a patient 63, while the lower order briefly revived hopes through an aggressive 73 from Odean Smith and a solid 35 from Abhijai Mansingh in an 86-run partnership for the eighth wicket.

However, once that stand was broken, the innings quickly collapsed, as Smith was dismissed six runs later by Bishop, leaving the Scorpions at 286 for nine.

The match ended in the next ball as Bishop bowled Khari Campbell for a first ball duck.

Bishop finished the match with figures of 5-72 to seal a dominant win for Barbados Pride.
