Women’s History Month celebrates 48 years of championing the indelible contributions women continue to make in society
It is now 48 years since the month of March was designated Women’s History Month to celebrate the important roles women play in society and are appreciated for their contributions, whether in communities, at home, or the world at large.
The 2024 theme celebrates: “Women Who Advocate for Equity, Diversity and Inclusion.”This theme recognizes women who understand the need to eliminate bias and discrimination from individuals’ lives and institutions.

As part of these values, various organization, groups, and individuals will present cultural events, music, dance, award ceremonies, educational talks, and entertainment, throughout the boroughs.
The New York Public library, Eastchester branch, 1385 East Gun Hill Rd., Bronx, will host WHM Stroke of Genius – painting for beginners on March 1, 12 p.m. – 1 p.m., and March 22, 12 p.m.- 1 p.m.

The Izza Dance Society will host WHM celebration on March 1, at the Common Ground Marketplace, 495 Flatbush Ave., Brooklyn.
Hands-on History – Miss Cornelia’s Flower Guide, will be honoring the last King Family member to live at King Manor Museum, at 150-03 Jamaica Ave., Queens, on March 2, from 1 p.m. – 4 p.m.
Hands on History is a free family program series held each first and third Saturday in the month at the location.

Women’s History Month: Cass Gallager will celebrate the Urban Park Rangers on March 3, from 11 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. Participants will learn how to see through the eyes of a naturalist, while taking a lengthy hike with the Urban Park Rangers along the nature trail named in honor of longtime Bronx resident and naturalist, Cass Gallagher.
The event will take place in Van Cortland Park, Broadway and Mosholu Avenue, Bronx.

Annual Youth Symposium: The Eta Nu Sigma Chapter (Brooklyn, NY) of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc., in partnership with Seven Roses Legacy Foundation (SRLF), will host its Annual Youth Symposium, a national program of a beloved organization.
The Youth Symposium is supported by undergraduate chapters and affiliates and is designed to highlight some of the prevalent concerns that negatively impact youth today. Topics include education, career readiness, substance misuse, mental health awareness, low self-esteem, and suicide.
