Where to go for St. Valentine’s Day celebrations
February 14 is St. Valentine’s Day, which means, not only lovers will be expressing affection with gifts, greeting cards, and dinners around the boroughs, families too, will be decked out in red, to celebrate the once yearly event, that has its genesis in Rome.
However, New Yorkers are set to enjoy a myriad of exciting events around town. Blue Fin Restaurant and Grill, at 637 Nostrand Ave., Brooklyn, for instance will welcome patrons to a Valentine’s three-course Pre-Fix Dinner, with champagne, on Feb. 14, from 7 p.m.
Guyanese-born Hollis Barclay, proprietor, told Caribbean Life, the planned Valentine’s evening will cater to couples and singles, where the servings will include choices of Seafood Omelette, Maryland Crab Cake, or Garlic Butter Clams. Surf & Turf Grilled Lobster Stuffed with Crabmeat, and Jerk Lemon Pepper Salmon, will also be served from 7 p.m.
Blue Fin Restaurant and Grill, entertainment, will continue with a special Mashramani celebration, on Feb. 23, to honor Guyana’s 53rd Republic Anniversary.

“Love In the House,” is a Valentine’s Day online event set for Feb. 13, 2023, 7:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. EST. The event will focus on a raw and uncut session with the owner of Honeydew Holistics for a night of girl chat based on relationships, sex, intimacy, and wellness.
Join Shivonne Davis — Marriage Restoration Coach, Alison Wellington — Relationship and Dating Coach and Cassandra Menard — Relationship and Men’s Life Coach on Friday, Feb. 10 at the Love Wins Workshop. The audience will learn key elements to creating a thriving and happy love life — whether single, or already in a relationship.
The in-person event will be held at 1465 Myrtle Ave., Brooklyn. The workshop is designed to be interactive and informative, a place where singles and couples come together.

An online Valentine’s Day Speed Dating session will be held on Feb. 14, from 7 p.m. – 8 p.m. At the start of the event, persons will join the link and enter the event room where the host will join and start the session.
In the main event room, persons will be able to chat with all participants in the event. There will be icebreaker question cards based on the round category to help facilitate conversation if needed.

The Brooklyn Museum, 200 Eastern Parkway, will host a Valentine Date Night, on Feb. 11, from 6–10 p.m. in the “The Norm” 1st Floor; Morris A. and Meyer Schapiro Wing and Iris and B. Gerald Cantor Gallery, 5th Floor.
Tickets are $30 and include a drink and after-hours admission to Thierry Mugler: Couturissime (last entry: 9 p.m.). Additional beverages and small bites are available for purchase. Member tickets are $15.
R&B Paint night will take place on Feb. 10 from 7 p.m. – 10 p.m., at Prime143, 143 Thames St., Brooklyn. There will be step by step instructions from talented artists where all guests will get the opportunity to sing their favorite songs and be a star for the night.
